Scope and Contents

This series contains reports, studies, plans, maps, proposals, and brochures relating to redevelopment projects in New London primarily from 1966 to 1978; minutes and agendas of meetings held by the organizations involved in these projects; and correspondence and contracts between the city organizations and the private companies that prepared these reports, plans, and proposals. The items in this series are focused on Downtown New London, with many materials relating specifically to the Shaw’s Cove and Bank Street districts. Many of the materials in this series were commissioned by the City Planning Board and the New London Redevelopment Agency, and prepared by James P. Purcell Associates. The series also includes an economic report for Southeastern Connecticut focused on the Electric Boat Company.
