A seed grant was provided to The Franklin Land Trust, a non-profit organization based in Virginia, dedicated to the conservation of local farmland, open space, and rural character.

Funding in support of an integrated population and environment program in 58 indigenous communities in the Peruvian Amazon. This program involves the training and support of 200 women to be community health workers. In 2000, a contribution was made to the KU Museum of Anthropology designated for the Amazonian Peoples Resources Initiative.

Grant in support of a program to protect and restore the upper Rio Grande watershed. Funds were used to develop an oral history project on the Rio Grande.

Grant in support of the production of the “Vermont Conservation Commission Handbook”.

Grant in support of a researcher from Hofstra University studying three endangered, North American turtle species. Funding from CRF was used to purchase a high quality global positioning system (GPS), which made it possible to get precise location data for the turtles.

Grant in support of a study on the biological control of purple loosestrife (Lythrum salicaria) conducted at the University of Connecticut.

The Environmental Health Center is a division of The National Safety Council. Funding was provided for “The Russian Environmental Journalism Education Program.”

Grant in support of a researcher in Belize studying “Transfer Rates of Mobile Target Species from a Marine Reserve: Implications for Reserve Design and Function”.

Funding was used to acquire a computer and scanner for specimen scanning. Scanned images are used to develop identification aids.
