After noting being in Singapore, Jack describes his time in Malaysia, specifically Kuala Lumpur (including a mine called Sungai Besi [that was one of the largest/deepest alluvial tin mines and American owned]), Tampin, and Malacca (that has an American plantation). He also comments on the products/industry (tin and rubber trees) of the Malay Peninsula, his train travel in Asia, and the new development of rubber-soled shoes (which he hopes to show them in Maine).
